A septic system receives, treats and disposes of wastewater and solids from a building’s plumbing system. Solids are partially broken down into sludge within a septic tank and separated from effluent (water) and scum (fat, oil and grease). Effluent regularly exits the tank into a drain field where it is naturally filtered by bacteria. Scum and sludge must be pumped periodically and should never enter the drain field.
A private septic system is a homeowner’s personal sewage treatment plant. It requires special care and maintenance. Septic systems are costly to replace, but when properly installed and cared for can last for years.
The Last Detail can have a septic system expert check your system’s tank, baffles, filters, distribution box and drain field.
In most cases, septic inspections can be scheduled during your home inspection for convenience. | | | Be sure to call The Last Detail for an expert inspection performed by a licensed and fully insured inspector! Never settle for anything less. Call Today! 603-490-1154 | |
